Our son was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome at the age of 7. Since then we have searched for any programmes that would help him and prepare him for adult life. One such programme is the Saturday Club run by “Tools for Learning” in Bray, Co Wicklow.
Since January, we have travelled from Wexford each week so that my son can participate in the club. From almost week one I noticed a difference with him. For other parents this may seem a bit ridiculous but on the journey home after the first class I had a conversation with my son about something other than Aliens. Week on week we have seen improvements. He can now make eye contact for short intervals when he is and he is more clued in to what is going on around him and listens better. The biggest thing we have noticed is that he can play with his siblings more without it turning into an argument. Tools for Learning have achieved all this in a fun way.
He loves Saturday Club and despite the long journey and having spent the week in school my son hops out of bed on a Saturday morning and can’t wait to get there. We cannot express our appreciation to “Tools for Learning” for the improvements and their commitment to our son’s progress. (T.B., Mum to B.B, aged 9)
